20 Questions with 1/1 Magazine

1/1. What does your creative process consist of? Any rituals/habits/ superstitions?

Detour. Now that I started creating pieces that are half paintings half instruments, my process has morphed into an audience oriented approach. I start with an idea of how I want the audience to feel and figure out how to accomplish it with various techniques. I then pair my piece with local musicians that fit the vibe I want.

1/1. What is the biggest challenge you face in making art? How do you work through it?

Detour. My current challenge is making art that lasts while still keeping my art functional. My approach is new so I am always aware that there will be glitches, but making sure these pieces last a while keeps me on my toes. To break through the hurdle, I try to think outside the box when it comes to a solution.

1/1. What drives you to create? What do you hope to achieve?
